Found in A Chronicle of the Kings of England by Richard Baker (2nd ed., pub. 1653)

Found by Gregory Robert Freeman, bookstore cataloguer, Vancouver Columbia, Canada

“In one of my recent purchases, A Chronicle of the Kings of England, by Richard Baker (2nd edition, 1653), I found a circa 16th century vellum MS. fragment with fine English handwriting, which begins ‘To the most … in god Thomas, … bysshop of Ely & lorde … of England.’  I haven’t been able to transcribe the fragment yet; it’s rather difficult to read.  It appears that the fragment was formerly a book-hinge reinforcement in another binding: there is a crease down the middle, with pin-holes spaced exactly 4cm apart. I found the fragment lying in my book used as a bookmark, while I was leafing through the book for the first time. After I found it, I mentioned it to the bookseller, but he said he had not known of it, and so it was a very nice gift.”
